The foundry industry's energy consumption accounts for 25% to 30% of the total energy consumption of the machinery industry. The most serious environmental pollution caused by foundry enterprises during the production process is solid waste and air pollution. The amount of three wastes discharged per ton of castings produced in my country is 10 times that of some industrially developed countries.

The pollution control technology and facilities of my country's foundry industry are still relatively backward. The investment of foundries in developed countries for environmental protection accounts for 20% to 30% of the investment in foundry equipment, while in my country it only accounts for 5% to 8%. Regions with developed foundry enterprises such as Jiangsu, Shandong, Zhejiang, Shanghai, Hubei, Chongqing, etc., cause serious pollution to the environment during the production process.
